Can PHRs make you healthier?

The latest news in Personal Health Records (PHRs) is that our government is spending to find out if maintaining a PHR will improve your health. I can't see why it wouldn't as closely watching your finances typically improves your financial health. Also mentioned is that PHR may someday be as ubiquitous as tax prep software is today - quite a concept!

I guess we all better start watching our own health care. I'm worried that my HMO is going to use all my health records against me in ways I can't imagine yet.

Not only is it important to keep track of our health records but it is also important to be sure our families and significant others understand our health issues. Every time I see a physician I ask for a copy of the information from that particular visit. Legally I am entitled to it and I have found that when I ask for it in person and sign the required forms I am given a copy at no charge.
